Another tourist destination of Himachal Pradesh is Kinnaur which varies from 2,320 to 6,816 meters with its administrative headquarters situated at Reckong Peo. The summers are short, and winters are long and cold over here. Kinnaur is famous for Kinnaur Kailash which falls on Indo-Tibetan border.  It is famous for its scenic beauty and amazing views of the Himalayas. Some famous places to visit in Kinnaur at ReckongPeo, which is headquarters of Kinnaur district and is known for its tasty apples, chilgoza pine, orchids, deodars woolen handlooms and handicrafts materials, Sarahan which is known for its scenic views and hidden valleys, Nako a small village located in Kinnaur which is heaven for trekkers, the green fields of Namgya, Ribba which is known for producing Grapes and distilled alcohol along with Pine Nut or Chilgoza, and Moorang which features apricot orchids. Kinnaur Kailash

Kinnaur Kailash is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Located at the height of 6050 metersabove the sea level, Kinnaur Kailash is considered as one of the most sacred mountains for Hindus as well as Buddhist. Kinnaur Kailash is the prime attraction of this town. Forthe enthusiastic devotees of Lord Shiva, Kinnaur Kailash holds religious significance as the place is home of a 79 ft tallest Shivalinga, which changes colours every second. It is basically a rock pillar gracefully stable on a rockslab and looks like a trident. closed by Parvati Kund, which is located at an altitude of 14900 ft above sea level. As per Hindu mythology, the kund was createdby Hindu Goddess Parvati herself for meeting point with Lord Shiva and the goddess Parvati, so known as ‘Aashiqi Park’. As per another Hindu mythological belief, every during winter season, Lord Shiva used to conduct a meeting of gods and goddess here at Kinner Kailash.

Narayan-Nagini Temple

Narayan-Nagini temple is located on the top of a hill at Chini Village, Narayan-Nagini temple is one of the major attractions of the Kinnaur. The temple was constructed in traditional Tibetan Pagoda style of architecture. 

Reckong Peo (Also Know as Rekong Peo)

Reckong Peo (Also Know as Rekong Peo) or simply known as Peo by the local people,  ReckongPeo is the district headquarter of Kinnaur district, located at an altitude of 2,290 meters above the sea level. This is one of the most beautiful town of Kinnaur, which offers the panoramic view of Kinner Kailash.From the town you may also view the stretch of Raldangpeak (5499 m) during the sunny days.A Buddhist Monasteries is also located in the ReckongPeo town.

Chandika Temple

Chandika Temple is one of the major temple of Kinnaur, which is located in Kothi village, at about 3kms from ReckongPeo. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandika Devi. It is said to be that she was the daughter of the demon Banasur, who presided over Kinnaur. This beautiful temple is surrounded by lush green forests of deodar and splendid snowcapped mountain peaks. 

Bhaba Valley

The Bhaba Valley is one of the most popular tourist attraction of Kinnaur.It is located in the east of river Sutlej, in Kinnaur district. It is one of the favorite trekking destination of this region. The valley offers the splendid view of the picturesque surroundings.

Roghi Village

Roghi Village is one of the most picturesque village in Kinnaur District. It is located about 8kms away from Kalpa. This village is known for its ethnic culture and tradition and the apple orchards, enjoy the nature walk through the enchanting surroundings. 

Lipa-Asrang Sanctuary

Lipa-Asrang Sanctuary is one of the must visit tourist attraction of Kinnaur district, situated at a height of 4,000-5,022 meters above the sea level. The sanctuary is spread over about 31sq km., which was declared a wildlife sanctuary in in 1962. It is the home of yaks, leopards, blue sheep, brown bear, musk deer, ibex, gorals etc.

Baspa River

The Baspa River is one of the major tourist attraction of Kinnaur District. The river arises near the Indo-Tibetan border and forms the Baspa Valley.The river is surrounded by lush green pine and oak forest, which offers the breathtaking view the amazing nature in the form of apple orchards, streams, snow-capped mountains etc. Baspa River is also popular for its large variety of fishes, hence fishing is another major charm of this place. 

Rakchham Chitkul Wildlife Sanctuary

Rakchham Chitkul Wildlife Sanctuary:  It is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuary of Kinnaur. RakchhamChitkul Wildlife Sanctuary issituated at an elevation of 3200 to 5486m above sea level. It is the home of large number of the diverse species such as the blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, musk deer and goral are found here. 

Buddhist Monastery (Brelengi Gompa)

Buddhist Monastery (Also known as Brelengi Gompa), which is situatednear the ReckongPeo in Brelengi. The Buddhist Monastery was built in 1992. It was established for facilitating the Dalai Lama to perform the Kalachakra ceremony by the Mahabodhi Society. It exhibits modern Buddhist edifice.

Kamru Fort

Kamru Fort is one of the most popular tourist attraction of Kinnaur district. It is one of the oldest Fort of Himachal Pradesh. Situated at the height of 2600 m above sea level. It has various gates with a picture of Lord Buddha at the main gate of the fort. The unique features of this fort are a beautiful image of Lord Buddha on the Fort's Main Gate and an Image of Kamkhya Devi.

Kalpa

Kalpa is a small and picturesque town located on the banks of Sutlaj River in Kinnaur district. This picturesque town is situated at an elevation of 2960 meters above the sea level. It is renowned for its apple orchards. The town is inhabited by Kinnauri people, they follow a syncretism of Hinduism and Buddhism both languages. Several temples in Kalpa are dedicated to both Hindu and Buddhist gods and goddesses.

Sangla Valley

Sangla Valley is one of the most beautiful town in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful town is located on the banks of river Bapsa at an elevation of around 8900 ft above sea level. The valley is surrounded by streams, snowcapped mountains and lush green landscapes.

Rakchham Village

Rakchham Village is Situated at about 15kms away from Chitkul, Rakchham Village is one of the most beautiful of Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful village is situated along the bank of River Baspa. 

Nako Village

Nako is one of the one of the splendid village of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at about 3kms above the Hangrang valley road and is 119 kms from Kalpaon the western direction of the PargialMountains. Nako village is the highest village in Kinnaurvalley. A lake, which is formed by the masses of the ice and snowenhanced the beauty to the village. 

Sarahan

Sarahan is a small scenic village in Himachal Pradesh, which is known as the gateway of Kinnaur, located near the old Indo-Tibetan Road. The town is renowned for Bhimakali Temple also called as Bhimadevi Temple. The temple is devoted to the goddess Bhimakali, presiding deity of the rulers of the former Bushahr State.

Ribba

Ribba is located at an elevation of 3745m above sea level, Ribba is a small and picturesque village in Kinnaur district. It is known for Pine Nut or Chilgoza. It is also known for producing Grapes and distilled alcohol.

Batseri

Batseri is located at the left bank of Baspa River, Batseri is a small and beautiful village in Kalpa. It is renowned for its breathtaking surroundings and splendid landscapes. Here you can also enjoy the shopping at local markets and buy handmade handicrafts such as shawls, and Kinnauri caps etc.

Moorang

Moorang is remote and beautiful village in Pooh Tehsil in Kinnaur District, which is situated at an altitude of 3591m above sea level. It is known for its scenic beauty and orchards of apricot and Kamru fort, which is the oldest fort of Himachal Pradesh. 

Tabo Monastery

Tabo Monastery is located at the distance of about 108kms from Kinnaur Valley, Tabo Monastery is one of the prime attraction of Himachal Pradesh. The Monastery is situated at an altitude of 3050 meter above the sea level. It amidst arid and rocky landscape. It houses the large number of Buddhist documents and scriptures, along with beautiful paintings and Buddhist statues. The Monastery is managed by Archaeological survey of India.

Kaza

Kaza is located at the distance of about 155.6kms from Kinnaur valley,Kazaone of the picturesque town of Himachal Pradesh. It is tedistrict headquarters of Spiti. Which is known for its amazing surroundings. The SakyaTengyyu monastery here in only a few years old but worth to visit.

  • By Train:- The nearest major railway Station is Kalka, which is located at the distance of about357kms from Kinnaur. The Kalka railway station is well connected with all major cities of India.Another small railway station is Shimla, which is located at 271.5kms from Kinnaur. Shimla is connected through toy train from Kalka. 
  • By Road:- Kinnaur is well connected with all major cities of Himachal Pradesh as well as the major cities in North India. Regular buses and taxi services are available from Shimla and Rampur to Kinnaur.
